Did Siri ever activate on your Apple device when you weren’t talking to it? If that happened during a private or confidential conversation, you could be eligible for a cash payment under a $95 million class action settlement with Apple.

A class action lawsuit accused Apple of recording and sharing private conversations through unintended Siri activations on iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, MacBooks, iMacs, HomePods, Apple TVs, and iPod touches — collectively referred to as “Siri Devices.” While Apple denies all allegations and wrongdoing, the company agreed to settle the case to avoid further litigation.

What’s the Lawsuit About?

The case, Lopez et al. v. Apple Inc., alleges that Apple’s Siri voice assistant was sometimes triggered accidentally and recorded sensitive conversations without user consent. Those recordings were allegedly accessed by Apple employees and even shared with third parties, potentially violating consumer protection and privacy laws.

Apple admits no liability and maintains that it did nothing improper or illegal. The court has not decided in favor of either party.

Who’s Included in the Settlement?

You’re considered a Settlement Class Member if:

  • Between September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024,

  • Siri was enabled on the device,
  • You experienced an unintended Siri activation,
  • And it occurred during a conversation that was intended to be private or confidential,
  • While residing in the United States or its territories.

You may file claims for up to five Siri devices per person.

All payments will be made on a pro rata basis from the Net Settlement Fund — the remainder of the $95 million fund after legal fees, taxes, and administrative costs.

How to File Your Claim

To get paid, you must submit a valid claim form by July 2, 2025.

Submit your claim here:  https://lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com/submit-claim

If you received an email or postcard with a Claim ID and Confirmation Code, you’ll use those during submission.
If not, you can still file a claim as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

You’ll need to confirm:

  • Your contact information,
  • That you purchased or owned a Siri Device in the U.S.,
  • That Siri was enabled,
  • That the device activated unintentionally during a private conversation,
  • And that this happened between Sept. 17, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2024.

You may receive your payment by check, e-check, or direct deposit.

What Happens If You File a Claim?

By submitting a claim and receiving a payment, you give up your right to sue Apple over the same issues in the future. If you don’t want to be part of the settlement, you can opt out by July 2, 2025, to retain your right to sue independently.

You can also file an objection to the settlement terms by that date, but if you do nothing, you won’t receive any payment and you’ll lose the right to sue Apple on your own.
